The Pierce field is located in the Central North Sea region approximately 165 miles east of Aberdeen. The oil is extracted via subsea wells by a purpose built double hull Floating Production Storage and Offtake vessel (FPSO). The FPSO extracts, processes and stores the crude oil in cargo tanks prior to offloading to a shuttle tanker. Shell UK Ltd have conducted a staggered development of this field over a number of years.
